It Takes a Village - 1st Annual Cuttyhunk Elementary Field Day!

Hello Everyone,

We are in our very last week of school!  We had our 1st Annual Field Day around the island Tuesday and what a fun day it was for us!  Here's the proof!

First stop was Arne and Kathy Olsen's house for Potato Sack and 3-Legged Races! We all had to rest for a while and have a snack after all of this jumping and running!

Next we made wood sculptures, cars, and doll furniture in the wood shop with Bill and Judith Archer! Now Gwen's American Girl doll has a new dresser for her clothes!

Then the Water Balloon Target Toss at Libby Anderson's house! We hit the trampoline target quite a few times with 62 water balloons!

Then on to the Egg Drop Engineering Design Challenge at Paula and Seymour Dimare's house! Neither egg survived the drop!  Back to the drawing board...

On Nina and Mark Brodeur's deck we had the Suitcase Run!  We had to run to our suitcase, get all dressed up, run back, and then get all undressed again....it was a tie!

We then headed up the street to Tom and Kathryn Balistrieri's house for the Great Pine Cone Toss Challenge!  We had to throw the pine cones backwards, through our legs, all sorts of ways!

To the water for the next event - a Kayak Obstacle Race in Cuttyhunk Harbor at Grant Schenck and Cathy Ford's dock!  We will be learning more about kayaking in September with Ms. Dunn.

Lunch time! Our next stop was to Sara and Paul Lehner's house for a delicious lunch and a round of Yolf! We learned some rules of playing golf too!

After lunch, our Mom, Lexi Lynch, had hidden clues all over the island that we had to try and find in the Island Scavenger Hunt!  When we solved all of the riddles and found the clues we ended up back home and got some awesome prizes!

Our next event was making pottery at Gail and Jeff Spear's house! We made a bowl, a cup and some ornaments out of clay and learned how to use a real Potter's Wheel!

To end our awesome Field Day we headed back to the schoolhouse for a Marco Polo Super Soaker game with Lorna Schenck!  We all ended up soaking wet of course!

Thank you to all of our great Cuttyhunk Island neighbors who helped us have the most awesome Field Day ever!

Have a wonderful summer everyone!
Until September,
The Cuttyhunk Kids
